Deep inside your body patrols the Dendritic Squad,
The immune system’s smartest scouts on the job.
Their leader, Denny the Dendritic Cell,
Watches for germs and danger signs well.
With long branch-like arms stretched wide all around,
Denny searches everywhere danger is found.
One day a sneaky germ slips inside,
Trying to spread and hide and glide.
Denny points quickly and shouts with alarm,
“Invader detected—prepare to disarm!”
The Dendritic Squad grabs tiny germ clues,
Called antigens, carrying important news.
Then off to the lymph nodes Denny will race,
To warn the T cells protecting the place.
“Attention defenders! Here’s what we found!
This is the germ moving around!”
The T cells gear up, the B cells join too,
And the immune army knows exactly what to do.
Without Denny’s warning, the body might miss
The dangerous germs causing sickness like this.
Denny smiles proudly and stands up tall,
“We don’t fight the battle—we help guide it all!”
